Standard Aftercare Instructions:
- Always wash your hands prior to touching your tattoo
- Remove your bandage 1 to 3 hours after your appointment
- Using your hand, wash your tattoo with anti-bacterial soap (do NOT use a washcloth or loofa to wash your tattoo)
- Pat your tattoo dry
- After washing, apply a thin layer of ointment as recommended by your artist
- Wash and apply ointment to your tattoo 3 times a day for the first 3 days, or if your tattoo is exposed to dirt or debris
- After 4 days, switch to using moisturizing lotion for the next 3 weeks
Avoid the Following:
- Do NOT allow your tattoo to be exposed to the sun for the first 3 weeks. After that, be sure and apply sunscreen if you have to expose your tattoo to the sun.
- Do NOT soak your tattoo underwater for the first three weeks.
- Do NOT do any strenuous exercise that results in sweating or stretching of the tattooed area for at least 48 hours.
- Do NOT pick, itch, or scratch your tattoo
- Do NOT shave over your tattoo
- Let your tattoo breathe- do NOT re-bandage it or use petroleum based products like Neosporin or A&D.
- Wear clean loose fitting clothing around your tattoo. Avoid hot tubs, saunas, swimming pools, and the ocean while healing.
